A Little Light Goes A Long Way

My view from the pew: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

Eleanor Roosevelt said ” “It is better to light one small candle than to curse the darkness.”

A few years ago when the kids were still pretty small we took a family vacation to Mammoth cave in southern Kentucky. On one of the journeys into the cave we were in a spot where there was no outside light at all.

They asked us to put our watches and anything that put off even the tiniest bit of light into our pockets… and then they turned off all of the lighting. It’s remarkable just how dark dark can be.

And it’s amazing how bright one small light can be when surrounded by complete darkness. It just isn’t that hard to bring a little bit of light to someone lost in darkness. Be that today…
