Dear Senator Sherrod Brown,
As the holiday season surrounds us with joy, reflection, and gratitude, the Cincinnati AFL-CIO Central Labor Council—along with our executive board, delegates, more than one hundred affiliated unions, and the over thirty-five thousand working families we are privileged to represent—extends our heartfelt thanks to you. This season of giving and community feels especially meaningful as we celebrate your extraordinary dedication to Ohio’s workers and the American labor movement.
Your unwavering belief in the dignity of work and the rights of every worker has been a beacon of hope, not just for Ohio but for workers across this nation. This holiday season, we are reminded of the countless gifts your leadership has brought to working families.
You gave the gift of security through the Butch Lewis Act, restoring the pensions of union workers and retirees. Thanks to your steadfast advocacy, thousands of families can now gather around holiday tables without the shadow of uncertainty over their retirements.
You fought to ensure workers’ voices are heard and respected, championing the PRO Act to protect collective bargaining rights and curb unfair labor practices. While the fight for its passage continues, your dedication has inspired us to carry on the mission.
Your commitment to affordable healthcare through the Affordable Care Act and your work on trade policies like the USMCA brought fairness and opportunity to countless working families. You understood that healthy workers and fair trade practices are the cornerstones of thriving communities.
And beyond these legislative victories, your presence on picket lines and in communities has been a true testament to the holiday spirit of standing in solidarity with those who need it most. Whether with auto workers, educators, or healthcare professionals, you have shown us what it means to lead with both head and heart.
Senator Brown, your legacy embodies the spirit of the holidays—compassion, generosity, and an unwavering belief in the power of community. As you step away from this chapter of public service, please know that your work has been a shining light for those of us committed to equity, justice, and dignity for all workers.
This season, as we gather with loved ones and reflect on the blessings of the year, we count your service and leadership as one of our greatest gifts. Thank you for standing with us and for inspiring hope, even in challenging times.
From our union family to yours, we wish you a holiday season filled with peace, joy, and well-deserved rest. May the New Year bring you as much fulfillment as you have brought to Ohio’s working families.
In the spirit of the season and in solidarity,
Bill Froehle
